Originally a small fishing village it has grown into a holiday and retirement resort within the last 25 years, with all modern facilities and services. There is still the fishing harbour, but it has now been extended to include a large, private yacht marina. |

The village centre, with its small and colouful main street, still retains much of the original character and atmosphere. Meander through the narrow village streets where small boutiques and pavement cafes vie for your attention, down to the marina where a variety of waterfront cafes and restaurants provide the ideal location to relax in the warm, balmy evenings and watch the world go by, or enjoy the wonderful views over the bay to the Peñon de Ifach near Calpe - an impressive rock rising out of the sea.
The cuisine is varied with French, Italian, Greek, English, Asian and of course Spanish dishes. Most mornings there are auctions in the fish market and on Fridays there is a street market.
